What’s the history of Campisi’s?
After World War ll, Campisi’s became the first pizzeria to open in Texas! We brought the best Italian cuisine over straight from Sicily, where Papa Campisi was born. The way Papa connected back to his Italian heritage was through the food he cooked. His authentic Italian recipes were used to create Dallas’ first pizza, and that is where the story of Campisi’s was first born. Learn more about our history, here.
We were built on handshakes and hellos, and we still continue this tradition today. At Campisi’s, we like to take care of you just like our nonnas, or grandmothers, would. The best way to replicate the love our nonnas had for us is by cooking some delicious food. What kind of dishes can I find at Campisi’s?
Of course, we are known for our award-winning pizza that is authentic Sicilian style. That’s why our pizzas are rectangular and thin crust – it’s the way Papa grew up eating it! But, we also have other popular dishes like our spaghetti and meatballs and famous shrimp scampi. Our spaghetti is cooked al dente then topped with our housemade sauce – which is cooked each day in batches for 8 hours – and served with our homemade meatballs. Our famous shrimp scampi is baked with homemade Italian breadcrumbs in our Campisi’s special butter sauce. These are only a couple of the delectable delights you can find on our menu.
