Art for Advocacy 2017 – Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center Event

The Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center (DCAC) coordinates the investigation and prosecution of the most severe cases of child abuse in Dallas County. As the only organization of its kind in Dallas County, DCAC reduces re-victimization of children, removes barriers to investigation, and enhances criminal prosecution.

The DCAC serves thousands of children each year (as well as their non-offending family members) who were sexually abused, severely physically abused, or who had witness violent crime. The average child is a 9-year-old girl who has been sexually abused by someone she knows, trusts, and relies on.

The group is a national leader in the Children’s Advocacy Center movement, and is recognized internationally for its expertise in the identification, investigation, and prosecution of child abuse cases, cutting-edge therapy programs, and community education programs.

We are a proud to be on the Art Underwriting Committee for Art for Advocacy 2017, an art auction showcasing work from 100 local and regional artists. The auction is Saturday, November 4th and the goal is to raise $600,000 in support of the children served by the DCAC.

We are really impressed with the core structure of the DCAC that helps these victims, and we appreciate the sense of urgency felt by the staff. The passion to help at the center is extremely contagious. As a result, the Campisi family decided to help make a difference.

Unfortunately, the Art for Advocacy 2017 auction is sold out, but there are other ways you can show your support for the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center.

You can make donations online here, and if you’re 18 (the minimum age to volunteer), find volunteer opportunities

The DCAC works to change lives for the better. Children who have been victimized and receive help from the center are less likely to abuse drugs and alcohol, grow up to become victims of domestic violence, become involved in criminal activity, suffer from depression and anxiety, or develop suicidal thoughts.

We hope you join us in support of the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center, whether you make a donation, volunteer, or spread the word about the great work done by this organization.

In the words of the DCAC, “You can make a difference. It only takes one word, one conversation, one moment to make a difference in the life of a child.”
